The Issue With Online Dating
Online dating is one of the biggest industries out there today. There are so many online dating apps available for our mobile devices we can hardly throw a rock in a room without running into one. There is noticeable thing they all seem to have in common.
Every online dating app is fixated on men making the first move. Fortunately, Whitney Wolfe has decided she wants to bring a change about with her new dating app Bumble. Launched in December 2014, the app now has millions of users and has created hundreds of millions of matches.
How She Plans On Solving It
The issue of online dating focusing on men initiating contact isn’t a problem with Bumble. Instead, women are required to make the first move always. This creates an environment with a very different focus from what you might expect from online dating. There is much less harassment at Bumble than what is generally seen in online dating. This in turn makes the app ma much more appealing place for women who want to try online dating without all of the issues so often seen.
Where It All Leads
Whitney Wolfe’s work at Bumble is an effort to change the way we think of dating in general. All too often, people are willing to accept the negatives of online dating as simply being a part of our culture. Bumble is forcing people to challenge how they think of online dating and whether or not we want to simply accept these things as being a part of online dating. Bumble has quite caught up with other online dating apps in terms of size, but it is growing fast. In a year or two it may even beat Tinder in size.
